Ian
My name is Ian Rose and I was born in Smethwick, Staffordshire in 1949, although I have lived in Essex since 1954.
I worked in Accounting up until April 2014 when I retired and from 1999 to 2014 I worked for a large Waste Management Company in North London. Until 1997 I worked for a Charter Airline for 8 years.
I am building up a collection of photographs of Essex Churches which are available for people to copy for their family history records. Click here to see them.

Helen
Helen is my wife and she was born in Rochford, Essex in 1947. She has lived in Czechoslovakia, South Norwood, Manchester and Enfield prior to moving back to Essex after we were married in 1968.
Helen used to work locally as a Sales Administrator for a Company manufacturing and retailing Labels and Labelling Equipment but after working for the same Company for 30 years, she decided to retire in 2002 and took a part-time job in tele-sales working just 20 hours a week. She finally retired in August 2010.
Helen's spare time interests are assisting me with my Genealogy, Knitting, Reading, Travel and being dragged around various locations to watch and photograph birds!. She also enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes.

We have always had pets ever since we were married and sadly lost our last cat in 2016. Up until recently we had a Japanese Akita dog called Remy who we sadly lost due to old age and a number of ailments.
We used to show and breed Samoyed dogs and we had a little success in the show ring. We had 24 puppies over the years.

We have been fortunate to travel fairly extensively over the years, partly due to my job with the airline, and we have visited most countries in Europe including the former Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Croatia (twice) and Hungary. Further afield, we have been to the Canary Islands (Tenerife and Fuerteventura), the USA (5 times), Cyprus, Malaysia, Thailand, Barbados, Egypt and five of the seven United Arab Emirates. We added New Zealand to this list in March 1999 and again in 2001. In 2011 we visited Croatia (again) and Sri Lanka. In 2012, 2013 and 2015 we visited St Lucia and Montenegro and in 2014, Mexico. In 2016, we added Canada to the list and re-visited Cyprus and in 2017 Malta, Cyprus again and the USA(again).
